The Song of Light
The Song of Light
FOLLOW seven rays happy shadows,
followers you are to the meadows.
Follow the sunlight stride along,
you are the part of white light lifelong.
Follow those pure beams whose beauty burns,
and yet in the heaven is placed.
Follow since so your fate ordained,
The sun must have his shade.
Follow where his glory shines,
support where his fairy resigns.
Follow beams so reverend and strong,
and do not lose his sight so long.
AWAKE the soul and with the sun,
your daily stage of duty runs.
Shake off dull sloth and early rise,
to pay your morning sacrifice.
Let all your converse be sincere,
your conscience as the noonday clear.
Influenced by the light divine,
Let your light in good works shine.
Wake and lift up yourself my art,
and with the angels bear your part.
WHO all night do sing,
glory to the eternal king.
I wake, I wake you heavenly choir,
may your devotion me inspire.
Heaven is dear where you are,
o then never from me depart.
Guard my first springs of thought and will,
and with thyself my spirit fill.
Follow seven rays happy shadows,
followers you are to the meadows.
