Loneliness

Loneliness

loneliness is growing old and loosing friends,
And not understanding modern trends.
One can be lonely in a crowd,
When people are talking and the noise is loud;
Fear creeps into the lonely heart,
A fear of rejection right from the start.
Loneliness is a personal thing,
It clutches your heart like an iron ring.
No-one else can understand,
That hopeless feeling of that choking band.
And the lonely feeling seems to grow;
No-one has time to stop and listen;
Unnoticed, unshed tears continue to glisten.
The words of the lonely cannot explain,
The hurts inside that are causing pain.
Let us then be made aware,
Of the lonely heart and the hurts hidden there.
If we could receive the gifts of perception,
Some lonely person may be saved from rejection.
